Australia will extend its restrictions on cruise ships entering the country and a ban on overseas travel for another three months, Health Minister Greg Hunt has confirmed.

Under the current Human Biosecurity Emergency Period, the Federal Government has banned any international cruise ship with 100 or more passengers from docking at the nation's ports.

The only exception for cruise services are if the ship is in distress or the liner left Australia before March 15 this year destined for another domestic location.
